Tara W.
This is Tara. She is genius.
(this is also Mooch. She is loved.)
Having started at an early age peddling her childhood drawings out
on the front lawn, Tara has always had a love for art, creating,
and the entrepreneurial spirit.
She began her endeavor into working as a full time artist while in
the midst of a fourteen year career in corporate management.
While most would scoff at an artist withstanding corporation rules
and regulations, Tara took it as an education in
efficiency and how to be productive in all the right ways!
She started her career by creating the most gorgeous mosaics that you have
ever seen. Tables, trivets, picture frames...she even mosaic tiled a fire into her fireplace!
She sold on Etsy for a couple of years to build
a following. From there, she progressed into painting picture
frames and home accessories which she would group into
collections, those went like wildfire!
Luckily she has an amazing treasure hunting Mamma to
search high and low for all of the fabulous vintage furniture and finds that she needed!
Within six months time she was able to call it quits at her
corporate job and focus solely on her art!
With the huge amounts of work she was producing. she
outgrew her home studio and decided to rent studio space in
Hartville's bustling downtown area.
Coming to and from work each day, she eyeballed the
vacant storefront that you now know as Modern Vintage
and dreamed of creating a storefront for her creations,
but knew she couldn't attempt it alone...
In came her friends. :)
She looked (maybe even stalked) high and low for the best gals to work with,
carefully building a wonderful and inspirational team for the store.
Finding that each girl assisted her in fulfilling her dream
in their own way, and with their own style.
Lesley had knowledge in antiques, Amy was a staple locally for
cute upcycled furniture, Jess S. was a customer with a knack for
crafty things, Jess K. had introduced her to Etsy at the beginning,
and nagged her to pursue her art for a living, and DeDe has brought her
knowledge of all things internet to the table...things that
Tara didn't even know that she didn't know!
She credits those around her for the success of Modern Vintage...
without them, she says none of this would be possible.
BUT, because writing the blog is my job (this is Jess K, by the way)
I can attest to the things that Tara doesn't like
to take credit for, and I know I speak on behalf of all
of us girls here at the shop...so here it is!!!
(nanny nanny boo boo, Tara!)
For starters, Tara is a dreamer who has the wherewithal to go after her dreams.
I have known her since high school, and she's always been this way!
She was the first of our group to OWN her own house!
She doesn't mess around when it comes to setting goals and achieving them.
She is motivated, smart, and knows how to run a business.
She has a keen attention to detail when it comes to her work, and is
at the top of her class when it comes to execution.
She is organized (although she may disagree), hardworking, and SUPER NICE.
She is a loving friend, caring and considerate, and strives at creating that type
of an atmosphere in the shop. She is the most humble person I know.
Tara appreciates our gifts and talents and works alongside us,
nurturing and growing us as a team.
I think she is the CORE of why our shop is a joy to be in. We get so many
compliments on how the vibe is so wonderful and it's so fun to come in...
this is a direct reflection of this gal...she is truly an inspiration and we love her so!
Tara is at the shop (or behind it in her studio) 8 days a week.
The big guy literally created another day for her to work
because she works so hard!!!
Stop by and tell her how fantastic she is and
that she should take a break! ;)
